Movement and activity

This breed needs plenty of exercise and should be able to run and play regularly. It's an excellent dog for active owners who enjoy walking, running, or hiking with their dog. Because of its herding origins, the Cão da Serra de Aires has a strong instinct to work and stay active, so it's essential to keep them mentally stimulated.

The Cão da Serra de Aires is a robust breed, but like many working dogs, it can be prone to certain health problems such as hip dysplasia and eye problems. Regular veterinary checkups and a good diet can help keep this breed healthy. Life expectancy is typically between 12 and 14 years.

Power supply

This breed needs a diet rich in protein and nutrients to support their energy and active lifestyle. The daily amount of food varies depending on the dog's activity level, but it's usually between 300 and 500 grams per day, depending on the dog's size and activity level. It's important to choose a diet that matches their energy needs and health status.

Training and socialization

The Cão da Serra de Aires is an intelligent dog that responds well to positive reinforcement in training. They can learn new commands quickly, but they can also have an independent spirit, which can sometimes make training challenging. It's important to provide early socialization and encourage them to interact with other dogs and people, especially if they're kept in a family setting.

Suitability for owners

This breed is best suited for active owners who have enough time to give their dog the necessary exercise and stimulation.
