Straw, hay and dry manure produce fine dust, cleaning products splash and spraying products releases fumes. The protection you need depends on which of those three you face. This collection contains Dräger respiratory protection, gloves from Keron and Sol-Vex, disposable and washable overalls and a few practical extras such as LED lighting and writing boards for the stable.

Understanding masks and filters
Reusable Dräger masks are available as half masks (X-plore 3300 and 3500, in size M and L) and full face masks (X-plore 5500 and 6300). You screw a filter onto such a mask. The letters and numbers on the filter tell you what it protects against: A stands for organic vapours, B for certain inorganic gases, P3 for particles in the highest filter class. An A2-P3 filter therefore combines protection against organic vapours and dust; A2B2-P3 also covers inorganic gases. Which filter suits a product is stated in the safety data sheet or on the label. Store filters sealed after use, for example in the filter storage box; an open filter keeps absorbing substances from the air.
Gloves and clothing that fit
The Keron Premium Basic gloves and the chemical-resistant Sol-Vex gloves are available in sizes 7 to 11 (S to XXL). A glove that is too loose is easier to lose grip with and gives less feel. For overalls, you can choose from Tyvek disposable overalls, a simple polypropylene disposable overall, the Kerbl washable cleaning overall with hood and the heavier Montreal spray overall for those who spray products often.
Visibility and organisation
In a dark stable or during the winter months, the LED is more lamps and a hat with built-in light help. With the writing boards, you put feeding schedules or treatment notes by the stable. Products for which you need this protection are in cleaning & disinfection. Tools are in brooms, shovels & rakes and manure scrapers. Back to all stable and yard items.
Frequently asked questions
Is an FFP2 mask enough when spraying products?
An FFP2 mask filters particles, not fumes. When spraying or fogging, you often need a mask with a gas filter; the label or safety data sheet of the product tells you which.
What glove size am I?
Sizes run from 7 (S) to 11 (XXL). Measure the circumference of your hand over the knuckles and compare it with the manufacturer's size chart.
How long does a filter last?
That depends on the concentration and how long you work with it. Replace the filter if you smell or taste something or breathing becomes harder, and follow Dräger's instructions.
