You apply hoof oil and hoof grease to the hoof wall and coronary band to care for the horn; which form you choose depends on how easy you want it to be to apply and whether you want a clear or black finish. Here you will find oil, gel, balm and Stockholm tar, supplemented by hoof picks, a hoof rasp and hoof boots.

How to care for hooves
Pick out the hooves daily, preferably before and after riding. The Excellent Horse Hoof Pick With Brush combines a pick with a brush. Look for stones, an unpleasant smell from the frog and cracks in the wall. Apply hoof oil to a clean, dry hoof and stick to the frequency stated on the label. With separate brushes in a tub or tube, you apply it neatly without dirty hands.
When is more needed?
With the Tubbease hoof boot (110 to 175 mm) or the Kerbl hoof bag, you keep a hoof clean and dry, for example when your vet has applied a dressing. Leave trimming and shoeing to the farrier. For lameness, heat in the hoof or a strong smell, call in the farrier or vet.
Hoof polish for competitions is in show preparation, skin care around the heels in mud fever and itching. All hoof products are in hoof care, feed supplements for the horn in hoof and coat supplements and the overview in horse care.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between hoof oil and hoof grease?
Hoof oil is liquid and absorbs quickly; hoof grease or balm is firmer and stays on the hoof longer. Which you choose is mainly a matter of convenience and finish.
How often do I apply hoof oil?
Follow the directions on the label. Always apply to a clean, dry hoof and not just before your horse goes out into the mud.
What is Stockholm tar used for?
It is a traditional product for the sole and frog. Use it according to the pack and ask your farrier if in doubt.
