Appearance & body shape
The Czechoslovakian Vlcak has a powerful, wolf-like appearance. It is medium to large in size, with an athletic body, a straight back, and a proud, alert stance. Its movements are light and fluid, almost like those of a wolf in the wild.
The coat is dense, weather-resistant, and changes with the seasons. In winter, it is thicker and woollier; in summer, it is shorter and smoother. The color ranges from grayish-yellow to silvery-gray, with a lighter underside and characteristic mask markings on the face.

The coat requires little maintenance — weekly brushing is sufficient, except during the moulting season when it can shed heavily.
Health
The Czechoslovakian Vlcak is generally a strong and healthy breed, thanks to its natural selection and robust build. Its average lifespan is between 12 and 16 years.
As with many medium to large breeds, hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia can occur. Regular checkups, a healthy weight, and sufficient exercise help prevent this.
