Rats and mice are attracted by food and shelter, and a stable or shed has both. In this collection you will find tools to catch and monitor them without poison: snap traps, live traps, lockable bait stations, lures and materials to seal holes. Brands include Knock Pest, Luchs, Gorilla Traps, Luna and the traps from Hofman Pest Control, such as Snap-A-Mouse, Snap-A-Rat and Multi-Catch.
Rat or mouse?
It makes a difference to the trap you choose. A rat trap is larger and stronger than a mouse trap, and a mouse walks straight through a rat trap unharmed. Look at the droppings: rat droppings are clearly larger than mouse droppings. Rats follow fixed routes along walls and are wary of new objects; mice are more curious and explore a new trap sooner.
Which trap suits your situation?
- Snap trap: kills quickly if it is set correctly and in the right place. There are plastic and metal snap traps, and the Snap-A-Rat also comes in an adjustable version.
- Live trap: catches without killing, from single traps with viewing window (Catch-A-Mouse) to traps that catch several mice at once (Multi-Catch, Dura). For rats there are walk-in traps and run-through traps from 65 to 122 cm.
- Bait station: a lockable box with key in which you place a snap trap or non-toxic bait. Pets, chickens and children cannot get at it. There are versions for mice, rats and a dual-bait version for both.
- Electronic: an electric rat and mouse trap, or the smart eMitter TubeTrap system that sends a notification when it catches something.
Luring, monitoring and proofing
Non-toxic lures, such as the Knock Pest attractants and NARA Lure in flavours like chocolate, vanilla, fish and meat, make a trap more attractive. Fluorescent Fluo-NP blocks contain no poison; rodents that eat from them leave droppings that glow under UV light, so you can find their routes with a UV torch. To stop them getting in, there is stainless steel wool, proofing grilles, GevelFix grilles, proofing tape and the Skipper roller door seal.
Animal welfare and rules
- Check live traps and snap traps at least daily, so an animal is not trapped or suffering for long.
- In the Netherlands, private individuals are not allowed to use glue to catch mice or rats, and glue traps cause unnecessary suffering; elsewhere, check the local rules.
- We do not sell professional rat poison. If the infestation is large or keeps coming back, call in a certified pest control professional.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I put a mouse trap?
Along a wall or behind an object, across the route, with the bait on the wall side. Mice rarely run through the middle of a room.
How often should I check a live trap?
At least once a day, preferably more often. A mouse in a trap quickly gets stressed and can dehydrate or starve.
What do I put in a bait station if I do not want to use poison?
Place a snap trap in it, together with a non-toxic lure. Many bait stations have a fixed spot for this.
Do ultrasonic repellers work against mice?
They are in the range, but the effect varies per situation. Always combine them with proofing and traps.
