A horse needs attention every day: feeding, mucking out, grooming, picking out hooves, and in summer keeping flies and horseflies at bay too. This page brings together everything for horses and ponies, organised by what you are doing in the stable or field. So you do not search by brand or product name, but by the job in front of you.
Seven sections, one horse
We have split the horse range into seven groups. Each group has its own page with explanations and help choosing.
- Horse supplements: complementary feeds as powder, pellets, oil or lick block, including from Excellent Horse, CuraHorse and Horslyx.
- Coat, hoof and leather care: curry combs, brushes, shampoo, hoof oil, saddle soap, bandages and clippers.
- Flies, horseflies and ticks: fly rugs, horsefly traps and insect repellents.
- Headcollars, rugs and fly masks: headcollars in sizes XS to XL, lead ropes, a sweat rug and headcollars with fly mask.
- Stable and field: feed buckets, haynets and slow feeders, buckets, manure forks, lick holders and feed bins.
- Treats and rewards: horse biscuits, Sweet Blocks, play balls and snuffle mats.
- For the rider: riding gloves, riding socks, boot jacks and mounting blocks.
Where do you start as a new horse owner?
If you have just got a horse or pony, or are taking on a share horse, you do not need everything at once. A logical order:
- Tying up and leading. A well-fitting headcollar and a sturdy lead rope come first. Headcollars come in five sizes; measure your horse's head before ordering.
- Daily grooming. A curry comb, a hard and a soft brush, a mane comb and a hoof pick. A grooming bag keeps it all together.
- Feeding and drinking. A feed bucket, a bucket or water trough, a haynet or slow feeder and a lick with holder. You will find them under stable and field.
- Keeping the stable clean. A manure fork, a shovel, a broom and a poo picker for collecting droppings in the paddock or field.
- Seasonal items. In spring and summer, a fly rug or a headcollar with fly mask; in cold or wet months, attention to coat and hooves.
Supplements are deliberately not at the top of the list. A horse that gets good forage and has free access to a salt lick often needs little extra. If in doubt, have the ration calculated first.
Horse, pony or Shetland: mind the size
Many horse items come in several sizes. Headcollars run from XS to XL, fly mask headcollars come in Pony, Cob and Full, and a rug is bought by length in centimetres. Hoof boots also go by the millimetre of hoof width. So always measure your own animal and do not rely on the breed name: two ponies of the same breed can have a very different head or back.
What to keep in mind
Horse supplements are complementary feeds, not medicines. They never replace a vet's judgement; for lameness, fever, coughing or signs of colic, call the practice first. We do not sell wormers; those come through your vet. If you compete, check your federation's rules before feeding a herbal supplement. And always use insect repellents according to the label.
Frequently asked questions
Do you also sell horse feed and wormers?
Hard feed and forage are not currently in the range; supplements, lick blocks and salt licks are. We do not sell wormers; you get those through your vet.
What do I need first for a new pony?
Start with a well-fitting headcollar and lead rope, a basic grooming kit with hoof pick, a feed bucket, a water bucket and a haynet. Add the rest as you notice what you are missing.
Are the items also suitable for ponies and donkeys?
Most grooming items and stable supplies are. For headcollars, rugs and masks, choose the size based on your own measurements; horse sizes do not always fit donkeys, because their heads and ears are shaped differently.
Where can I find treats to reward my horse?
Horse biscuits, Sweet Blocks and play balls are in treats and rewards.
